KIA (killed in action) along with 264 others, in the sinking of the chartered troopship Tuscania, of the Cunard Lines, when torpedoed by a German submarine off the coast of Scotland. Originally buried at Port Charlotte, Isle of Islay, Scotland, later reburied at Arlington National Cemetery. First Collin County boy to be killed due to enemy action in WWI.
