As an official United States of America Vietnam War Commemorative Partner, Frisco Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 8273 and its Auxiliary is proud to host an event to show Vietnam Veterans in our community they are celebrated, appreciated and honored for their service.
Ultimately, it is the “Welcome Home” they never received after returning home over 50 years ago.
Captain Dave Carey, USN (Ret.) served with distinction in the United States Navy, completing a decorated military career that spanned over two decades. A Naval Academy graduate and fighter pilot, he was shot down over North Vietnam in 1967 and endured nearly six years as a prisoner of war. His resilience, leadership, and unwavering spirit in the face of adversity exemplify the highest ideals of military service. Following his return, he continued to lead and inspire, serving as a commanding officer and director of leadership programs. Captain Carey’s valor is recognized through numerous military honors, including the Legion of Merit, five Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart, and eight Air Medals and it is the Frisco VFW's pleasure and honor to bring him to Frisco, TX.
