Established in 1947, our Voice of Democracy audio-essay program provides high school 9-12 grade students with the unique opportunity to express themselves in regards to a democratic and patriotic-themed recorded essay.

Theme: What is Patriotism to Me?
The Patriot's Pen essay contest encourages young minds to examine America’s history, along with their own experiences in modern American society, by drafting a 300- to 400-word essay, expressing their views based on a patriotic theme chosen by the VFW Commander-in-Chief.

Frisco VFW recognized by Frisco Independent School District for its contributions through its Voice of Democracy audio-essay program and its Patriot’s Pen youth essay contest that has contributed thousands of dollars to furthering the education of Frisco students for over 50 years!
In 2018, Frisco Independent School District dedicated one of its new schools, Liscano Elementary in honor of Frisco VFW Life Member, Past Post Commander of Frisco VFW & Vietnam Veteran, Carlos Liscano.
